Installing Microsoft Expression Design
Follow these steps to install Microsoft Expression Design on a computer running the Windows XP or Vista operating system.
Please note the system requirements listed below.
.NET Framework 3.0
Please be sure .NET Framework 3.0 is installed first
before attempting to install Expression Design. This is installed natively in Microsoft Vista, but you may need to install
it if you are running Windows XP SP2. To install WPF and the .NET 3.0 framework in Windows XP SP2:
- Uninstall all previous versions of Windows
Presentation Foundation, Windows Communication Foundation, MSXML 6.0 and SDK
using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel

- Download and install the .NET Framework 3.0.
Installation
To install Expression Design, Insert the Microsoft
Expression Design CD into the computer's CD-ROM drive.
- Choose Start > Run. Click
Browse and choose the
setup.msi file on the Microsoft Expression Design CD. Click OK in the Run dialog
box to begin the installation.
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
- If prompted, restart your computer.
After installing Microsoft Expression Design, you will
be presented with a dialog box asking you for a PID ("Product ID") key, also
called a license code. For more information, see License Keys.
System Requirements
The following hardware and software are required to create images with Microsoft Expression Design:
- Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Vista.
- 733 Mhz processor with MMX or equivalent
- 256 MB of RAM
- 400 MB available disk drive space
- 800x600 monitor resolution with 24-bit color
- Mouse and/or digitizer tablet
Recommended system:
- Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 or greater or Microsoft Vista.
- Pentium 4 processor with MMX or equivalent
- 1 GB of RAM
- 600 MB available disk drive space
- 1024x768 or greater monitor resolution with 24-bit color
- Mouse and/or pressure-sensitive digitizer tablet supporting the WinTab API (this includes WACOM and CalComp
tablets)
